Teaching in education has changed so much over the years.   Teachers are expected to identify and teach diverse learners, notate which students have medical issues, and know how to instruct lessons while utilizing various teaching methods at different rates.
One way education has changed is the use of technology.  Technology has opened doors to massive amounts of information.  Today you can access books, videos, images, movies, documentaries, and audio.  Teachers can incorporate technology into their lessons plans to enhance student learning.  For example, in English class, students are able to watch the Shakespearean play Macbeth on YouTube.  This type of experiential learning allows students to see the play -- thus supporting English vocabulary comprehension, as well as providing a contextual base to the historical time period of the play.
The door to communication has also increased due to improved technological devices, in the classroom.  Students can read blogs, stories, view pictures, watch documentaries, and even interact with students from different countries.  And while teachers are still a wonderful source of information -- they are no longer the primary source of information!
So as students learn to take ownership of their own education, technology will enable them to gather information in a shorter time period -- for homework and classwork assignments, do research on future careers, learn about colleges and universities, and provide ideas for the next wave of teachers and teaching methods.
Technology is a powerful tool that is changing education every day.
